High-Capacity Internal Network Deployment for Cloud-Driven Distribution Centre

WestNetworks Holdings Ltd was engaged to deliver the full internal networking infrastructure for a state-of-the-art distribution centre operating entirely on cloud technologies. With over 3,000 connected devices—including handheld terminals, automation systems, and IoT sensors—the client required a resilient, high-throughput network capable of supporting real-time logistics, inventory control, and live cloud control.

Site-Wide Backbone

Our solution began with the design and implementation of a 10Gbps fibre ring network, creating a resilient, low-latency backbone throughout the facility. This core ring provided high-speed interconnectivity between key distribution points, switch cabinets, and edge nodes, enabling intelligent load balancing and future-proof scalability.

Mobile Technology

To ensure complete wireless coverage and eliminate downtime, we installed a high-density wireless mesh network using multiple enterprise-grade access points. These were strategically positioned across the warehouse and logistics areas, optimised through detailed heat mapping and RF planning to guarantee uninterrupted connectivity, even during peak operational loads and high physical interference.

Future Proof with on-going support

The wireless mesh was integrated with intelligent controllers, supporting automatic healing, load balancing, and device roaming with zero hand-off latency, enabling thousands of devices to stay reliably connected as they moved throughout the site. Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) switching was used extensively to simplify infrastructure and support rapid deployment.

Throughout the installation, WestNetworks maintained live testing, continuous auditing, and validation against throughput targets. Our proactive monitoring and remote management capabilities give the client complete visibility and control, with automatic alerts and predictive diagnostics built in.
