Watchet, Somerset
Located in a rural and coastal location, This represents a carefully engineered blend of cost-efficiency, scalability, and market-readiness designed not just to deliver high-speed connectivity, but to do so in a commercially responsible and investor-attractive way. This is not speculative infrastructure; it’s a tightly scoped build, already demand-mapped, with marketing and support infrastructure in place to maximise take-up from day one.
Our model leverages Openreach’s PIA (Physical Infrastructure Access) framework for both overhead and underground routes, significantly reducing the time and cost associated with new ducting or pole installation. By reusing Openreach’s existing infrastructure where viable, we’ve been able to maintain high build velocity and avoid unnecessary civil works, which in rural, topographically, narrow and historic complex areas like Watchet, is a major logistical and financial win.
We will strategically infilled with new build underground ducts in areas where Openreach ducts are blocked, congested, or simply not present. This hybrid model allows us to maintain full design control, avoid costly delays, and ensure a seamless build that reaches 100% of target premises.
We will chase the light, installing the backhaul, cabinet and spine networks, getting customers online within days of deployment.
What sets the Watchet build apart is that it’s pre-packaged and turnkey. The demand capture, build design, light loss modelling, fibre spine planning, and take-up forecast have all been completed. We’ve even built out a full marketing and customer engagement strategy to support rapid adoption once the network goes live. With over 2,000 properties within reach, a large percentage of which currently rely on subpar copper or our legacy fixed wireless solution already covering the town centre, the demand-side is already proven.
In short, this is a network designed with investment-grade thinking: low upfront cost, strong long-term ARPU, proven demand, and a lean, efficient delivery model.
For investors or partners seeking a rural FTTP deployment that balances ambition with grounded delivery, Watchet is the blueprint.

North & West Newton, Somerset
WestNetworks’ pre-packaged full-fibre deployment in North Newton and West Newton, Somerset, offers a prime example of a rural gigabit network designed for both operational efficiency and long-term return on investment. These are tightly-knit communities underserved by legacy infrastructure, making them ideal for a focused FTTP rollout backed by clear local demand and minimal competitive overbuild.
Openreach’s existing poles and ducts offer a fast and affordable route to scale — especially across the rural lanes and farmland boundaries that characterise North and West Newton.
Where ducts are available and serviceable, we’re reusing them to avoid unnecessary permitting, traffic management, and excavation costs. Similarly, pole-based spans allow us to connect outlying properties without major disruption.
But in the pockets where Openreach infrastructure isn’t viable such as on private land, new-build estates, or blocked duct routes our own underground build takes over.
These custom infill segments are fully planned, costed, and installed by our NRSWA-accredited internal teams, ensuring full compliance and fast mobilisation.
