What is Fibre to the Cabinet?

It’s a nationwide broadband technology used by Openreach, which we (and other providers) use to connect your home with the internet. It uses a technology called DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) and can achieve up to 80Mbps download speeds and up to 20Mbps upload speeds.

It pipes fibre into your local street cabinet serving the copper landline network, which connects your home. It uses very high frequency which offers faster speeds at the expense of distance.

These speeds depends on your landline length, with shorter lines seeing the fastest speeds. Very long lines might have worse performance compared the older ADSL technology – Click here to learn more.

What to expect during ordering?

First of all, we’ll take the order on our core portal – billing.wncore.net. This process takes 5 – 10 minutes and will ask for your details, installation address and what hardware is needed. If payment is required, we will process this payment during this process.

If you’ve ordered a new router, We’ll have it setup and ready to plugin and use. If you have your own hardware, We’ll then provide the login credentials needed.

When the go live date comes, simply plugin/login and away you go, we’ll then bill you per month. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns and we’ll be happy to help.

Please call 0800 6 102109 or email team@westnetworks.co.uk

Useful Information
We use Openreach, BT Wholesale and TalkTalk Wholesale to supply our broadband services to your doorstep. This means your landline will be used to connect via the traditional telephone network and onto our edge network and onto the internet. This might not provide a substantial increase in speeds however it will provide better network stability, less peak time congestion and better customer support.
